TIC-80 Project Kickoff: Infrastructure Integration and Developer Synergies

Meeting 2026-01-05

We have begun the development cycle within the TIC-80 platform, establishing the technical and operational principles that will guide the team until the release at the end of March. During the kickoff meeting, we not only finalized the technology stack and communication channels but also synchronized roles based on individual competencies. Our goal is to create a disciplined yet inspiring work environment where retro-computing constraints and modern software development methodologies meet.

Operational Framework and Workflow

Information flow is ensured by a multi-level system, where WikiJS serves as the central repository for technical documentation and the knowledge base. Rapid, asynchronous communication is maintained through Discord-based direct messages, while a weekly system with Google Meet and Calendar integration has been introduced for reviewing milestones. Every Thursday at 21:00, we hold sprint-like meetings, ensuring continuous progress and the effective removal of any potential blockers.

Responsibilities were delegated in the spirit of technical diversity, where Mr. Zero, as the organizer, is responsible for infrastructure maintenance and core programming tasks. Mr. One has undertaken the development of creative assets, such as music sequences, graphic elements, and storyboarding, covering the non-code-based development areas. In addition to storyboard design, Mr. Two is responsible for QA processes and codebase expansion, while Mr. Three focuses on implementing platform-specific graphic and animation solutions.

Motivation and Vision

The team's internal drive comes from recreational development and creating lasting technical value, avoiding the monotony of corporate mechanisms. While the power of community development is the main draw for Mr. One, Mr. Three is attracted by the specific environment of the TIC-80 platform in this hobby project. Mr. Zero sees the process as the foundation for a future corporate model and toolkit, while Mr. Two emphasized the freedom of creating outside "the machine" during the clarification of individual motivations.

Tasks have been assigned according to the visions outlined by Mr. Anderson, and the committed timelines are transparent for all participants. The most important task for the coming days will be configuring the WikiJS environment and the structured recording of existing domain knowledge to meet the end-of-March deadline. We will continue the work at the next scheduled Thursday meeting, where specific implementation details will be addressed to achieve our common goal.
